Getting there

IMPORTANT NOTE: Enter the Red Cloud Mine from the south at Martinez Lake. DO NOT ENTER FROM THE NORTH, NEAR CIBOLA. The Red Cloud Mine GPS coordinates are 33° 6' 1'' North , 114° 35' 59'' West (Latitude & Longitude, WGS84) or 33.10045,-114.59984 (Latitude & Longitude, decimal).
Getting to the Martinez Lake area is relatively easy. It’s the last 15 miles on unpaved road that present a challenge. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is REQUIRED. Most of the unpaved road to the mine is through a sand wash. Do NOT try to enter from the north of Red Cloud Mine, near Cibola.
It is recommended that you confirm your trip with the mine prior to travel. It's much safer for you if we know when to expect you at the mine. Reaching out prior to your trip also ensures that we’ll be there when you arrive. There are times when the mine is closed for a day or two, even during the season. Let your family and friends know that you'll be without cellular coverage while at Red Cloud Mine. They'll worry less when they know that BEFORE you visit... trust me!

Adventure, like crystals, comes in all sizes. We’re open from about October through April (weather permitting). Reservations are recommended. Please see below or check our Red Cloud Mine Facebook Page for a list of tools and equipment you might need. Payment is CASH ONLY. No prepayments. Do not prepay anyone claiming to represent the Red Cloud Mine. NO INVESTORS are being solicited. Do not give information and/or money to anyone claiming to represent the Red Cloud Mine.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: SAFETY GLASSES, HARDHATS AND CLOSED TOEFOOT WEAR IS MANDATORY FOR ALL COLLECTORS ON ALL RED CLOUDMINE/RC MINES LLC/ PROPERTY. NO EXCEPTIONS! This rule does notapply to tourists who are taking a surface tour or purchasing specimens at themain complex. We want your Red Cloud Mine experience to be safe, fun and memorable. Therefore, IT MUST BE UNDERSTOOD THAT COLLECTING ON RED CLOUD MINE AND OTHER RC MINES LLC PROPERTIES IS A PRIVILEGE. YOUR DAILY FEE HELPS TO COVER OUR DAY-TO-DAY OPERATIONS. IT DOES NOT, HOWEVER, ENTITLE YOU TO DISREGARDMANAGEMENTS DECISIONS WHICH ARE FINAL. THANK YOU. SPECIAL EVENTS MAY CHANGE DAILY COLLECTING FEES (listed below) DURING AN EVENT and will be posted in advance and will be posted on our website and Facebook page. 1) Red Cloud Mine is $35/person. THIS GETS YOUACCESS TO THE MINE DUMPS AND TAILINGS! There is also a limited option to collect on the 'vein' at Red Cloud Mine for $150/person. THE "SIGNIFICANT POCKET" RULE APPLIES ON THE 'VEIN' AT THE RED CLOUD MINE. NO COLLECTING AT RED CLOUD MINE UNDERGROUND IS EVER ALLOWED! 2) Fluorescent mineral collecting is available for $50 PER 5-GALLONBUCKET. THIS FEE APPLIES TO ALL MINES HELD BY RED CLOUD MINES/ RC MINES LLC. 3) South Geronimo Mine is $60/person. THE "SIGNIFICANT POCKET" RULE APPLIES AT SOUTH GERONIMO MINE.
4) Camping at RCM is FREE for paying collectors. Enclosed showers are avilable -- bring your own towel. Bring appropriate gear (listed below in the RESOURCES section). 5) Pets are allowed and welcome as long as they are not harrassing other guests. If your pet becomes a nuisance you will be asked to restrain/leash your pet. IF YOUR PET BITES OR CAUSES DAMAGE TO PERSONS OR PROPERTYYOU WILL BE HELD SOLELY RESPONSIBLE. Please pick up after your pet. 6) TRASH IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! PACK IT IN - PACK IT OUT! Trash bags are handed out free of charge. Just ask! 7) CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER ARE FREE WITH PAYING ADULTS. THEY MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMESWHILE ON MINE PROPERTY AND ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CLIMB/RUN ON OR NEAR PITWALLS, DUMP WALLS OR NEAR ANY OPEN HOLES. THIS INCLUDES MINESHAFTS, PITS, TRENCHES AND ANY OTHER MINE WORKINGS ON MINE PROPERTY. 8) ALCOHOL AND/OR PRESCRIPTION DRUGS: ACT RESPONSIBLY! IF YOU BECOME AHAZARD TO YOURSELF OR OTHERS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE MINE PROPERTY.UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY INTOXICATED OR IMPAIRED INDIVIDUAL BEALLOWED TO WANDER OR COLLECT ON ANY PROPERTIES OWNED ANDOR OPERATED AND OR HELD BY RED CLOUD MINES/ RC MINES LLC. 9) MANAGEMENT RESERVES ANY/ALL RIGHTS AND IS THE FINAL AUTHORITYREGARDING ANY AND ALL OPERATIONS RUN BY RED CLOUD MINES /RC MINES MINEPROPERTIES, INCLUDING COLLECTING, CAMPING, EXPLORING AND OR HIKING ONMINE PROPERTY. 10) Speed limit on mine property is 5 mph. SUITABLE VEHICLES WILL BE ALLOWEDTO DRIVE THE PIT HAUL ROAD WHILE COLLECTING ON PIT FLOORS. IF YOU ARE ALLOWEDBY MANAGEMENT TO DRIVE INTO THE PIT THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY: a) 4WD LOWGEAR IN AND OUT OF THE PIT IS MANDATORY, b) WATCH OUT FOR OTHERS WHO MAY BEENTERING OR LEAVING ON FOOT, c) FOOT TRAFFIC ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY! NOEXCEPTIONS, and, d)MANAGEMENT RESERVES ALL RIGHTS ALLOWING VEHICLES TO OPERATEON ANY AND ALL MINE PROPERTIES. BY SIGNING THIS FORM YOU ACKNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THERULES ON ALL RED CLOUD MINES/RC MINES LLC PROPERTIES. YOU ACKNOWLEDGEAND AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS RED CLOUD MINES/RC MINES LLC, RED CLOUD MINES PERSONNEL, AND AGREE THAT ALL MANAGEMENT DECISIONS ARE FINAL. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR PRIVILEGES WHILE ON MINE PROPERTY CAN BE REVOKED AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON DEEMED NECESSARY BY MANAGEMENT. ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTIES INREGARDS TO QUANTITY, QUALITY, OR CONDITION OF SPECIMENS THAT ARE FOUND OR MAY BE FOUND WILL BE GIVEN. ANY AND ALL ABERRATIONS IN REGARDS TO RED CLOUD MINES /RC MINES LLC WILL BE HANDLED BY MANAGEMENT AND WILL BE THE ABSOLUTE FINAL DECISIONS. Camping: Tent Sleeping bag / cot Pillow Blanket Ground mat / inflatable cushion Collapsible chair Matches / fire-starting device Extra clothes Toothbrush / toothpaste Code of Ethics for Rockhounds (no matter where you collect) - I will respect both private and public property and will do no collecting on privately owned land without the owner's permission. - I will keep informed on all laws, regulations or rules governing collecting on public lands and will observe them. - I will, to the best of my ability, ascertain the boundary lines of property on which I plan to collect. - I will use no firearms or blasting material in collecting areas. - I will cause no willful damage to property of any kind - fences, signs, buildings etc. - I will leave all gates as found. - I will build fires in designated or safe places only, and will be certain they are completely extinguished before leaving the area. - I will discard no burning material - matches, cigarettes, etc. - I will fill all excavation holes which may be dangerous to livestock. I will not contaminate wells, creeks or other water supply. - I will cause no willful damage to collecting material, and will take home only what I can reasonably use. - I will leave all collecting areas devoid of litter, regardless of how found. - I will co-operate with field trip leaders, and those designated in authority in all collecting areas. - I will report to my Club or Federation Officers, or other proper authorities, any deposit of material on public lands which should be protected for the enjoyment of future generations for public educational and scientific purposes. - I will appreciate and protect our heritage of natural resources. - I will observe the "Golden Rule" and will use "Good Outdoor Manners" and will at all times conduct myself in a manner which will add to the stature and "Public Image" of rockhounds everywhere.
