Getting there
IMPORTANT NOTE: Enter the Red Cloud Mine from the south at Martinez Lake. DO NOT ENTER FROM THE NORTH, NEAR CIBOLA.
The Red Cloud Mine GPS coordinates are 33° 6' 1'' North , 114° 35' 59'' West (Latitude & Longitude, WGS84) or 33.10045,-114.59984 (Latitude & Longitude, decimal).
Getting to the Martinez Lake area is relatively easy. It’s the last 15 miles on unpaved road that present a challenge. A 4-wheel drive vehicle is REQUIRED. Most of the unpaved road to the mine is through a sand wash. Do NOT try to enter from the north of Red Cloud Mine, near Cibola.
It is recommended that you confirm your trip with the mine prior to travel. It's much safer for you if we know when to expect you at the mine. Reaching out prior to your trip also ensures that we’ll be there when you arrive. There are times when the mine is closed for a day or two, even during the season. Let your family and friends know that you'll be without cellular coverage while at Red Cloud Mine. They'll worry less when they know that BEFORE you visit... trust me!
